Bank BTN Support Coral Reef Conservation in Nusa Dua

5/5/2021

Bank Tabungan Negara (Bank BTN) support coral reef conservation through their Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) program by funding a one-year reef restoration project in Nusa Dua. The project aims to restore damaged coral reefs by using sand-coated steel rod structures called Reef Stars. 710 coral fragments have been transplanted onto 55 Reef Stars and a BTN logo made using the same process as the Reef Stars. All structures were installed in shallow waters at Nusa Dua, and a one-year maintenance and monitoring program carried out by Nusa Dua Reef Foundation together with the local community aims to ensure coral growth and long-term success of the project.

A ceremonial coral transplantation and sea turtle release was held at the St Regis Bali Resort beach on Saturday, April 10th, 2021, as part of the 71st anniversary celebration of Bank BTN. The event was attended by President Director of Bank BTN Haru Koesmahargyo, Regional Secretary of Badung Regency I Wayan Adi Arnawa, Member of the Indonesian Parliament Commission IX Eriko Sotarduga, Chairman of the DPD REI Bali I Gde Suardita, Chairman of Himpera, as well as representatives of fishermen groups in Nusa Dua, a team of divers, and volunteers.

NDRF would like to thank Bank BTN and all parties who have helped carry out this project.
